Aaron Foster never imagined the best way to manage his depression, anxiety and
grief would be telling jokes about it, but his solo stand-up show, “Mostly Jokes,” that one reviewer called “subversively hilarious, laugh out loud gallows humor” has helped him, and
others, find light in very dark places.
Foster quit his job at 50 to become a stand-up comedian and three years later “Mostly
Jokes” is a darkly funny look at his strained relationship with his bipolar father, his strained
relationship with his schizophrenic brother, his strained relationship with network TV
executives and his strained relationship with... wait for it... himself. A comedy! Foster has had, what he calls “some ups and downs” but his therapist(s) call “a combination
of survivor’s guilt, depression and anxiety that has invalidated his every accomplishment, destroyed his every relationship and invaded his every waking thought.” Potato, poe-tah-
tow.
Foster will be at The Comedy Lounge a total of four nights. In addition to his 90-minute solo show on August 30, Foster will be featuring for headliners Sam Miller
and Carlos Rodriguez on August 27-29.
Aaron has been on the road with “Mostly Jokes” to more than 70 cities in the past 18
months and hopes to tape this show as his first special by the end of the year. The guy is
still trying to “make it” in Hollywood. The odds are long, but how hard can it be? Especially
when this time, he’s got a secret weapon. Honesty.
Wow, how melodramatic was that?
One more thing... he doesn’t do crowd work. You’re welcome.
When: August 30 @ 7:00pm (doors at 6:00)
Where: The Comedy Lounge, 2417 Bank Dr, Boise, ID 83705
